Inspired by a vintage Australian hiking jacket. A neat mid-season piece for all weathers.

Skill level: Intermediate. UK Sizes 8-18.

You will need matching thread, and 16 2cm buttons. It is reccommended that for most fabrics that you will need 0.9m/1 yard of interfacing. If you are making an unlined jacket you will need 0.4m of lining for the pocket bags.

Merchant & Mills suggest linen, 8-12oz denim, wool, corduroy, cotton twills or canvas. You can create a water resistant version with our deadstock waxed fabrics. A heavier weight cloth will result in a more structured jacket. For linings they suggest a barrier lining if using oilcloth - for anyone other fabric use cotton voile, lightweight linen, cotton poplin, lightweight wool, and slip linings.

All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless stated otherwise and are included in the pattern. Sizing and fabric amount information is on the final slide of images.
